At least 15 people were killed in a tragic accident on Thursday in Manitoba, Canada. The incident occurred when a bus carrying elderly passengers collided with a truck at an intersection near Carberry, approximately 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg.
The passengers were on their way to a casino in Carberry. Rob Hill, Assistant Commissioner and Commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba, confirmed the fatalities, stating, “At least 15 people have been declared dead following the collision.” Ten other people are receiving medical care at the hospital.
Both drivers survived the accident, but authorities have not yet determined who was at fault. Heart-wrenching images from the scene showed destroyed wheelchairs and walkers near tarps covering the bodies of the victims.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his condolences to the victims and offered support to the injured and the families of those who lost their lives. Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also extended her condolences to those affected.
