The 3-year-old son of the rodeo star has passed away two weeks after a tragic river accident.

LIFE STORIES

Levi Wright, the young son of rodeo star Spencer Wright, has passed away. The three-year-old died after suffering a traumatic brain injury following a near-drowning incident on May 21. Levi was rushed to a hospital in Salt Lake City after accidentally crashing a toy tractor into a river near the family home. Local authorities found Levi unconscious about a mile downstream. Initially declared brain-dead with little chance of survival, Levi began showing signs of improvement. “LEVI WOKE UP! I’m shocked, we don’t know much, but the doctor said it’s good news, and I am so grateful – THAT’S ME! My baby is so strong!” his mother, Kallie Wright, wrote on Facebook.

Unfortunately, the MRI results the following day were “not good.” “We are devastated, but these are just images that suggest a certain quality of life. Our true reference will be what Levi does over the next few days,” Kallie explained. As Levi continued to struggle in the hospital, his family and friends kept asking for prayers. On June 2, Kallie shared heartbreaking news: “After several sleepless nights, extensive research, multiple conversations with the world’s top neurologists, and millions of prayers, we now face our greatest fear,” she wrote. “Levi showed us just enough to give us the time for all of this.

We prayed that these signs meant he was defying all odds and wanted to show us he wanted to stay here, but we now see he wanted to give us time to find peace in letting him go.” After countless tests, scans, and consultations, the Wright family made the decision to remove Levi from life support. The next day, on June 3, a family friend, Mindy Sue Clark, confirmed on Facebook that Levi had passed away. “I can’t even begin to describe how hard the past two weeks have been. From the moment my phone rang on the night of his accident to last night’s news that it was time to let him go.

I don’t want to focus on the pain or sadness, even though it feels like someone is ripping my heart out and squeezing it right in front of me. I want to focus on the many miracles we all witnessed over these past 12 days. ‘The most perfect three-year-old who ever existed. So perfect that we didn’t have the right to keep him.’ This little boy moved mountains over the last 12 days. He brought so many people together. In such a dark world, we were able to see light through a child. He is everything his mother and father could have wished for.” Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wright family during this incredibly difficult time.
