Make sure to read this story… it will deeply move you! An incredible discovery. They didn’t expect this terrible finding. On the night of Saturday, March 23 to Sunday, March 24, around 4:30 a.m., residents of an apartment building in Saint-Étienne, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, heard cries resembling the sounds of a baby crying.

Bloodstains. When they went out of their apartments following the cries, they were shocked to find traces of blood. They followed the trail of blood to the corridor leading to the basements, specifically to the building’s trash room.

A baby in a storage room. There, they found… a newborn, all alone in the small storage room.

Due to the cries and the presence of blood, which indicated the very recent birth of the child, the neighbors immediately alerted emergency services. The emergency responders contacted the Départemental Fire and Rescue Service of Loire (SDIS) and dispatched a team from the Loire Samu to the scene, as reported by Le Progrès.

Quick medical care. One of the doctors quickly attended to the baby, who still had the umbilical cord and was suffering from hypothermia. The baby was in good health, and their life was not in danger, according to France Bleu. An investigation was launched. The baby was transported to the CHU of Saint-Étienne, where they remained on Sunday, March 24.

The police have opened an investigation for “attempted murder” and also went to the crime scene.

Police statements: “If no one had intervened as quickly as they did, the baby may not have survived,” the authorities said.

A repressed pregnancy: According to the initial findings of the investigation, the mother of the child, a 20-year-old woman who also lives in the same building in Saint-Étienne, is believed to have had a repressed pregnancy. She reportedly gave birth alone in her bathroom before throwing the newborn in the trash.

The police’s work: The police traced the blood through the building’s common areas, from the trash can to the woman’s apartment, and knocked on the door before the mother, who was home, answered it.

The mother is also receiving treatment at the hospital. She was transported to the North Hospital in the city. She has been placed in police custody and will be questioned by investigators as soon as her health allows.
