The airplane cabin is simply breathtaking!
Bruce Campbell, a 64-year-old retired electrical engineer, has always had a sharp eye for innovation. In his twenties, he spent $23,000 to purchase 10 acres of land in Hillsboro, Oregon, and he had a plan. Using an old airplane and a large plot of land, he built himself the most extraordinary home imaginable.

An Innovative Plan
Campbell has always enjoyed taking things apart and reassembling them to create something new. His goal in acquiring the land was to use it as a foundation for a mansion he planned to build using decommissioned cargo ships. He believed he had come up with a truly groundbreaking concept for a home, but later discovered that someone else had already done something similar.
Bruce Campbell learned about Joanne Ussery, a hairdresser from Mississippi, roughly twenty years after conceiving his plan. She had transformed a Boeing 727 into a home. After her previous house burned down, she decided to rebuild in the form of an airplane and settled near a quiet river.
After learning about her story, Campbell reconsidered his plans and decided to change course.
Moreover, he made significant adjustments. To learn more about Campbell’s airplane house and see additional pictures, keep reading the article.
In 1999, Campbell spent $100,000 to purchase a Boeing 727 from Olympic Airways. He had to transport the massive aircraft to the Oregon woods after buying it. To make matters more challenging, the plane had to be shipped all the way from Athens, Greece. The total transportation cost amounted to around $120,000, bringing the total expense for the jet to $220,000. Nevertheless, he believed the airplane was worth every penny.
All the necessities of life are provided on board. Some of the original seats and the airplane’s bathroom have been preserved. Campbell also installed a sink and a washing machine.
Modest Living
Although the Boeing 727 is quite spacious, Campbell’s unconventional residence is not where he spends most of his time. A couch serves as his bed, the microwave and toaster act as his kitchen, and cereals and canned goods are his go-to food choices.
Achievement
We’re not sure if we’d want to live in this plane like Campbell does, but we’re definitely impressed by what he has accomplished! Just look at this airplane— isn’t it amazing? It must be incredibly rewarding to bring something this grand to life.
