My daughter-in-law didn’t appeal to me from the beginning, but when I ended up in the hospital, everything changed.

LIFE STORIES

When my son got married, I wasn’t thrilled with his choice. His wife seemed like a completely different person than I had expected. She didn’t have a higher education, and I thought she couldn’t offer him anything besides what was on the surface. Her speech irritated me; she mixed up words and cases. I couldn’t understand why my son chose her instead of someone with a good job and education.

I hoped that over time he would realize who he had married and everything would work out. However, everything went in a completely different direction than I expected. One day, I ended up in the hospital, and that’s when everything changed.

Although my relationship with my daughter-in-law wasn’t perfect, when I ended up in the hospital, she didn’t leave my side for a moment. She took care of me, brought me food, and kept an eye on my health. At that moment, I felt immense shame for my words and actions. I began to look at her completely differently and realized that she was much stronger and kinder than I had thought.

After leaving the hospital, I noticed how much my son had changed. He became more responsible and started thinking about his future. He found a well-paying job, bought an apartment, and a car. I realized that these changes had taken place thanks to his wife’s support.

I began to see that she wasn’t what I had imagined. She turned out to be a wise, strong woman who knew how to support and inspire my son. Day by day, I admired her strength and ability to keep the family together more and more.

When their first child was born, and then the second, I saw how she continued to care for the family. Even while pregnant, she didn’t complain and kept working, taking care of the house, and always being kind and considerate toward me.

I often ask myself: why did I say so many bad things about her, why didn’t I try to understand her right away? She turned out to be someone who strengthens our family and makes it happier. Now I realize how wrong I was.

Looking back, I feel ashamed of my behavior and I’m beginning to see how important it is not to rush to judge, but to give people a chance to show themselves in different situations. My daughter-in-law has become an example for me of how important it is to support each other and appreciate every shared moment.
