Emma was going through difficult times. After losing her parents, she was left completely alone, with only a small amount of savings and the burden of loneliness. One rainy evening, when she only had 50 dollars left in her wallet, she decided to give half of it to a complete stranger in the grocery store. She didn’t expect any gratitude, but fate had different plans.
Holding back tears, Emma repeated her mother’s words to herself: difficult days will surely pass. The loss of her loved ones left an emptiness in her heart, and the empty fridge served as a constant reminder of the need to save every penny. On her modest shopping list were only the most necessary items: bread, eggs, and some pasta.
At the checkout, her attention was drawn to an elderly man. Shyly, he asked the cashier if he could at least take some bread, admitting that he hadn’t eaten for two days. The cashier didn’t know what to do.
Without hesitation, Emma stepped forward:
“I’ll pay,” she said calmly.
The man looked at her with eyes full of surprise and sincere gratitude. He tried to refuse, but Emma insisted:
“In difficult times, help is especially important.”
After paying for the groceries, she wished him all the best and walked out into the rain, never even learning his name.
The next morning, Emma went to an important job interview. It was her chance to start a new life. The spacious office building with glass walls and shining floors seemed like something out of reach for her.
When she was invited into the office, she froze: sitting behind the desk was the same man from the store.
He greeted her warmly and conducted the interview, during which Emma tried to control her nervousness. After the formal part, he asked her to stay for a moment.
“Yesterday, you didn’t see a homeless person, but a man who needed support,” he began softly. “My car broke down, and my wallet was at home… I was just walking around the city, searching for answers to my inner questions.”
The man’s name was Mr. Watson, and he was the CEO of the company Emma had applied to.
He admitted that her professional skills had impressed him, but it was the kindness she showed that ultimately made the decision for him.
