When a Japanese farmer noticed strange formations on his field, he decided to share photos online — but he didn’t expect such a reaction.
The objects in the photos resembled cosmic cocoons: round, wrinkled, and seemingly covered in ice. Social media users immediately associated them with scenes from science fiction movies like “Alien” or “Prometheus.
Some people wrote that everything looked like a scene from a horror movie and that something might be living inside those objects. The atmosphere of the photos was indeed unsettling.
However, the farmer himself remained calm about the discovery. He continued his work on the farm and explained that it was simply cabbage left over from the previous season.
It turned out that these strange “capsules” were heads of cabbage that hadn’t been harvested in the fall. Due to the mild winter, they didn’t freeze but instead rotted and became deformed. The spring frosts caused the top layer to freeze, creating this unusual effect.
Currently, these vegetables are slowly decomposing, turning into natural fertilizer. In the meantime, the field has become a local attraction — people come to see this unusual phenomenon.
