During an ordinary walk in the forest, I noticed some strange yellow “mushrooms” — I came closer and realized they were not what they seemed. It changed my day… and myself.
Walks in the forest have become part of my daily routine. Whenever I have free time, I just grab my backpack and head down familiar paths. It helps me relax and clear my mind. But this particular walk was completely different from all the previous ones.
That morning was quiet and chilly. The forest smelled of leaves and damp earth, everything seemed as usual… until I suddenly saw something strange.
Right next to the path lay a cluster of yellow, rounded objects. Against the ground and dry leaves, they immediately stood out.

At first, I thought they were mushrooms. Unusual, bright ones — maybe even rare.
Or perhaps someone had dropped some toys. I came closer out of pure curiosity.
But after just a few steps, I noticed they were moving.
The yellow “mushrooms” were alive. And they were squeaking.
Lying on the ground in front of me were tiny, freshly hatched chicks. They were huddled tightly together, shivering from the cold and making quiet, pitiful sounds. Some of them hadn’t even fully emerged from their eggs yet.

The sight was so shocking that I froze for a moment.
Someone had clearly left them here on purpose — in the middle of the forest.
Without hesitation, I called an animal shelter. Luckily, help arrived quickly.
Together, we gathered the chicks, doing our best not to harm them. Many of them were still alive, so they were immediately taken to a warm place for observation and treatment.

Later, the shelter workers told me that most of the little ones were already recovering. They will end up in good hands — with someone who will take care of them.
What happened to the person who abandoned those helpless creatures in the forest — I don’t know. But this situation reminded me that something which may seem insignificant at first glance can turn out to be someone’s saved life.
Sometimes, an ordinary walk can turn into a true test of humanity.
