
What are those strange white lumps in the egg? I almost threw away my breakfast — but it turned out to be completely different from what I thought.
Recently, as usual, we went to a nearby supermarket. It’s our favorite store — the products are always fresh, and we’ve never had any complaints. We bought our usual dozen eggs, not suspecting that a real surprise awaited us at home.
When I started preparing breakfast and cracked one of the eggs, I noticed small, semi-transparent lumps inside. They were slippery and somewhat resembled jelly-like formations. At first glance, they didn’t look very appetizing, so I decided to check what I was dealing with before finishing cooking.

Together with my husband, we started looking for information — what could it be? It turned out that this phenomenon is not rare and is related to the hens’ diet and the natural processes occurring in their bodies.
What was it really?
As experts explain, these types of inclusions are deposits of calcium or protein. They can form in the egg at certain stages of its development and do not pose a health risk. It happens especially often when hens receive enriched feed or experience stress.
Important: if the egg is fresh, smells normal, and shows no signs of spoilage, such structures do not mean the product is dangerous or spoiled.

What did we decide?
Of course, it wasn’t the most pleasant surprise — especially in the morning. But now we know: such inclusions are not a reason to panic. Still, we decided to be more careful when shopping and maybe change the brand — simply for our own peace of mind.
