Poachers hung the forest ranger upside down from a tree and, as they were leaving, laughed: “Enjoy your time.” But when a wolf came running from the depths of the forest in response to his screams, the predator did something that almost made the ranger lose consciousness 😲😢

The forest ranger noticed them from afar. Four men were walking along the clearing with rifles, dragging their prey behind them. He stepped straight toward them and firmly said:
— Stop the hunting immediately and leave the forest. This is a protected area.
They exchanged glances and laughed. The old man was alone, and there were four of them — strong, brazen, confident in their impunity.
— You will answer for your words, old man. The one who can order us around hasn’t been born yet, — one of them hissed.
Everything happened quickly. They grabbed him, threw him into the snow, tied his hands and feet. He tried to break free, but the strength was unequal.
— Let’s hang him on a tree like live bait. The bears and wolves will have a hearty lunch today, — another suggested.
They threw the rope over a thick branch, hoisted him upside down, and tightly secured the knots. Blood immediately rushed to his head, and his vision darkened.
— Have a nice time. Tomorrow we’ll come back for your bones, — they said as a final remark and walked away laughing.

Snow fell in large flakes. The forest quickly sank into silence. The old man hung helplessly, upside down, his hands numb. He realized that he wouldn’t free himself, even if he struggled to the last.
He screamed, called for help, but there was only the forest around him. And suddenly, from afar, a rustle was heard.
He expected to see people, but between the trees appeared a gray shadow.
A wolf.
The predator first stopped at a distance and watched carefully. Then it took a step. Another. The snow quietly crunched under its paws. Amber eyes never left the man.
The forester froze.
— That’s it… — a thought flashed. — It’s the end for me.
When the wolf howled long and mournfully, the old man felt his chest tighten.
— Now it’s calling friends too… — he thought.
He was already mentally saying goodbye to life when the beast did something that made the man gasp and sent a chill down his spine. 🫣😱

The wolf leapt and grabbed the rope with its teeth. The old man thought the beast was tearing it to reach him. The rope stretched and creaked. The forester opened his eyes and saw the predator furiously ripping the rope — but not at him.
On the third tug, the knot loosened, the rope snapped, and the old man fell heavily into the snow. He lay there, unable to believe he was alive. The wolf stood nearby, breathing heavily, watching him calmly, as if it recognized him.
Then the forester remembered. Last winter, he had been inspecting a section of the forest and came across a trap set by poachers. A young wolf struggled inside. Its paw was caught in iron, it growled and tried to bite.
The old man could have walked past. But he carefully covered the animal with his jacket, released the trap, and let it go into the forest.
Back then, the wolf had also turned and watched him for a long time. Now it was doing the same. The old man tried to get up. The wolf stepped back a few paces, howled briefly once more, and slowly disappeared among the trees.
