LIFE STORIES

During the wedding, my mother-in-law came up to me and tore off my wig, showing all the guests my bald head 🫣😢

Until recently, I had been fighting cancer. Long months of treatment, hospital walls, chemotherapy that slowly drained my strength and hair… But one day I heard the most important words from my doctor: “You are healthy.”

On that long-awaited day, my beloved proposed to me. I cried tears of happiness and, of course, said “yes.”

We started preparing for the wedding. For several weeks I searched for a dress, planned the details, and secretly hoped that my hair would grow back at least a little. But no — in the mirror, I still saw my bald head. I had to find a suitable wig to feel confident.

I was very worried about what people would think of my appearance. Many of the groom’s relatives knew I had health problems, but I hadn’t told them exactly what, so I hoped they wouldn’t notice the wig.

And then — the long-awaited day. I was in a white dress, next to my fiancé, the church filled with light and quiet conversations. Everything seemed perfect… until she approached.

My mother-in-law. She had never liked me, and I knew perfectly well why. She thought I wouldn’t be able to give her son children, and that he could marry a “healthy” girl.

She came silently, and in the next moment I felt my wig being torn off. Her loud, almost triumphant laugh rang out:

— Look! She’s bald! I told you so, and you didn’t believe me! 😢😢

Laughter echoed in the hall, some people looked away, some froze. I stood there, holding my hands to my head, tears stinging my eyes. I felt ashamed, hurt, and offended. My fiancé hugged me, trying to calm me, but I could feel his hand trembling. And then something unexpected happened, after which my mother-in-law deeply regretted her actions 😱😱

My husband did something no one expected.

— Mom — he said firmly — you will leave this wedding immediately.

My mother-in-law froze, trying to say something, but he continued:

— You do not respect my choice or my family. I am willing to give up everything for her. And don’t forget — you yourself were once in a difficult situation, and father loved you despite everything.

A silence fell over the church. My mother-in-law, pale, turned away and, wiping her tears, walked toward the exit. The guests whispered, some in surprise, some in approval.

And my husband simply took my hand and whispered:

— Now everything will be fine. We’re together.
