LIFE STORIES

My husband and his family decided it would be “fun” to push me into icy water. I hit my head and began to sink, and when I barely managed to reach the shore, they stood there laughing at me 😲😢

My relationship with my husband and his relatives had always seemed normal. I believed that they at least respected me. But after that day it became clear: there had never been any respect. They were simply used to looking down on me — until one “joke” turned into an attempt to throw me into the water.

That day, our whole family was walking along the waterfront. It was very cold, the water was icy, and a fog hung over the surface. We were talking about how, after the walk, it would be nice to go somewhere warm, to warm up and drink some tea. Nothing hinted that anything bad would happen.

When we reached the pier, my husband suddenly stopped and, looking at the water, said:

— I wonder if it’s deep here?

— I don’t know, — I replied.

He smirked, stepped closer, and said:

— Let’s check. You can swim, right?

— Not now. It’s too cold.

— But I want you to swim. It’ll be fun.

I didn’t have time to say anything else. He pushed me hard in the back — I fell down, hit my head on the wooden surface, and ended up in the icy water. Shock, cold, pain — I couldn’t understand where up was or down.

Laughter came from above. My husband and his relatives were standing on the pier discussing “how cool she jumped.”

When I finally managed to get out, shaking from cold and pain, they continued to mock me. Not one of them came to help.

And then I understood: if I stayed silent, it would happen again. Or end even worse. So I did something that my husband and his relatives deeply regretted 😱😨

Barely holding my phone with my wet fingers, I dialed 102.

My voice was shaking, but my words were clear:

— Attempted harm. My husband pushed me into the water. I hit my head. They laughed and didn’t help. I request a police unit right now.

The police arrived quickly — probably because they could hear in my voice that I wasn’t joking.

My husband tried to act like it was an “innocent joke,” but the cold, wet marks on my clothes and the bruises on my head spoke louder than any excuse.

He was detained right on the pier. My mother-in-law went pale, my father-in-law stood in shock. And then the most interesting part began — they both rushed to me:

— Withdraw the report… please… it’s all a misunderstanding…

— He didn’t mean to… he’s just a fool… please don’t ruin him…

But I stood there, wrapped in my ice-cold jacket, looking at them the way you look at people you’ve stopped fearing.

They wanted a “fun joke.” And they got a criminal case.
