The ballerina felt ashamed in front of the other dancers when her father brought her ballet shoes directly into the hall. When everyone started laughing at her, the girl drove her father away—but what happened next was something unexpected 😱😥
The morning at Anna’s home began with resentment and anger. She had argued with her father again about ballet shoes. The girl had been attending dance classes for three years and dreamed of becoming a real ballerina one day. In the studio, the other girls had beautiful costumes and expensive pointe shoes, while everything she had was old and worn out.
What upset her the most were her shoes. They were worn, darkened, and scuffed in places, and Anna felt that because of them everyone looked at her with pity.
Her father had been getting ready for work since early morning. He worked at a construction site, took on the hardest jobs, and came home exhausted, with a sore back and tired hands. Once again, Anna started asking him to buy her new ballet shoes. She said she was ashamed to go into the studio, that a performance was coming up, and that everyone was laughing at her.
Her father quietly explained that there was no money right now, that she needed to wait a little, and that he would definitely figure something out. But Anna didn’t want to listen anymore. In anger, she grabbed her old shoes and threw them straight at her father.
Her father only lowered his eyes, picked them up from the floor, and said nothing. Anna quickly got ready and left for practice, slamming the door loudly. She felt like no one understood her. And he stood in the hallway for a few more seconds with those shoes in his hands, as if thinking about something. Then he took them with him and left for work.

It was a hard day at the construction site. But even there, the father couldn’t stop thinking about his daughter. During his lunch break, he took out the old shoes, carefully shook off the dust, cleaned all the dirt with a cloth, washed the worn spots for a long time, and then found some golden paint and gently began covering the fabric.
By the end of the day, the old shoes had truly transformed. They were shining and looked almost like new. Not perfect, of course, but beautiful and elegant.
The father looked at them and smiled for the first time that day. He really wanted to make his daughter happy. So after work, tired and still in his work clothes, he went straight to the dance school.
In the ballet hall, a rehearsal was in progress. The girls were standing at the barre, repeating their movements. Anna tried not to get distracted until a slight noise began in the hall. One of the dancers noticed the man at the door and looked at him with surprise. Then another turned around. Within a few seconds, everyone was looking at him.
— Who is that?
— What kind of person came here?
— Why does he look like a homeless man?
— Ugh, he smells terrible.
At first, Anna didn’t understand who they were talking about, but then she turned around and froze. Her father was standing at the door. Tired, dusty, in an old work jacket.
— My dear, here, I brought your shoes, — he said. — Look, I fixed them up. Now you can practice and perform спокойно.
At that moment, the hall became completely silent, and then someone giggled. Others started laughing too.
— Is that your father?
— Are you from a poor family?
— How embarrassing.
Anna felt so ashamed that her face burned. She felt everyone staring at her, and instead of going up to her father, thanking him, and hugging him, she became afraid of their laughter.
— No, that’s not my father, — she said sharply. — He’s my dad’s assistant.
The father immediately fell silent. His face changed, but he still held the shoes in his hands.
Anna quickly approached, snatched the shoes from him, and раздраженно threw them on the floor.
— Leave, you’re embarrassing me, — she said loudly enough for everyone to hear.
The father didn’t justify himself, didn’t argue, didn’t say a single bad word. He simply looked quietly at his daughter, bent down, picked up one of the shoes from the floor, placed it back, and slowly walked out of the hall.
But then something unexpected happened, after which Anna deeply regretted her actions 😱😨 The continuation of the story can be found in the first comment 👇👇

Only when the door closed behind him did Anna suddenly feel something heavy inside. But her pride didn’t allow her to run after him. She pretended that nothing had happened, picked up the shoes, dusted them off, and continued the lesson.
That evening, her father wasn’t home. He came back very late, when Anna was already lying in her room. He didn’t come in to see her, didn’t say anything, and from that day on, he seemed to become even quieter.
The next day, there was a box on Anna’s bed. Inside were new ballet shoes — not repainted, but completely new.
Anna was so happy that she took the shoes, hugged them to herself, and ran to practice.
After the competition, she was given a title, awarded a diploma, and praised for her technique and artistry. Everyone around her smiled, congratulated her, and the girls who had laughed at her yesterday were now looking at her very differently.
Anna stood there holding her award and suddenly realized that she had no one to share this joy with. Her father was not there.
When she returned home, the phone rang almost immediately. The voice on the line sounded strange. She was told that her father was in the hospital. He had fallen ill at work. Due to exhaustion and endless extra shifts, he had suffered a serious attack.
Anna felt as if the ground had disappeared beneath her feet. She stood in the middle of the room, clutching that very diploma in her hands, unable to believe what she had just heard.

All the words she had said to him in the hall suddenly came back to her mind. She remembered how he smiled, how he held those repainted golden shoes, how he quietly left without saying a single word in return.
She rushed to the hospital, not feeling her legs or her breath. By the time she reached the room, she was trembling with fear. When she entered, her father was lying on the bed, very pale, exhausted, and unusually weak. His strong hands, used to hard work, now lay motionless on top of the blanket. Anna came closer, sat beside him, and couldn’t hold back her tears.
— Dad, forgive me, — she whispered, squeezing his hand. — Please forgive me. It’s my fault. I was terrible. You wanted to do something good for me, and I… I am so ashamed of what I said. I shouldn’t have acted like that. Never.
Tears streamed down her face one after another. She no longer thought about the girls from the hall, or about other people’s opinions, or about beautiful shoes, or about awards. At that moment, she needed only one thing — for her father to open his eyes and hear her.
After some time, he finally regained consciousness. He saw his daughter beside him, saw her tears, and weakly squeezed her hand. And at that moment, Anna cried even harder, because she understood the most important thing.
