A mother named Nicky Maher from Somerset, Massachusetts, decided to secretly film her daughter’s babysitter, and now the video is going viral for all the right reasons.
Delaney Wilson, 18, who cares for Maher’s child while she works, is a talented young woman with an enchanting voice. The issue is that she’s too shy to share her singing talents with the world because she doesn’t believe she sounds good enough. One day, when Maher walked into the house and heard the captivating melody of Disney’s Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid, she knew she had to capture the beautiful moment.
At the start of the recording, Maher can be heard whispering, “This is our babysitter.” As Maher quietly enters the room, Wilson, unaware that she is being filmed, showcases her voice. Her singing becomes more powerful and impressive, and Maher can’t contain her emotions. Speaking to Fox News, Maher explained that she was already familiar with the babysitter’s voice before filming. “I thought I wanted her to hear herself when she didn’t know anyone was watching. I was brought to tears the first time I heard her sing. So I said, ‘Delaney, you have an incredible talent.'” Maher wanted to know why Wilson didn’t sing more often or in front of others
That’s when she told me, ‘I overthink things and I never feel like I sound good enough, and I don’t always have confidence in my appearance,'” Maher explained. “And that broke my heart.” Maher asked Wilson if she could post the video on TikTok, and Wilson agreed. Before long, the message went viral and caught the attention of many people. “It’s not that she didn’t know she had a talent that many people had confirmed for her,” Maher said. “It’s that she hadn’t heard it without knowing she was trying or that someone was watching.
