Naomi Pomeroy, an award-winning chef, has passed away at the age of 49. Friends confirmed that the former Top Chef Masters contestant had died. She was tubing with two other people on the Willamette River, just outside of Portland, Oregon. At first, no one knew who she was. A few days later, it was revealed to be Naomi. The accident occurred because Naomi was not wearing a life jacket when the three connected tubes struck a tree in the water, causing her to go under and never resurface. On Saturday at 8:25 p.m., police found Naomi’s body underwater. It was determined that a strong current had hindered the discovery of her body.
The two other people, including Naomi’s husband, Kyle Linden Webster, survived the incident. “SO SAD TO HEAR THIS.” Naomi’s last Instagram post, promoting her latest culinary project called Garden Party, received numerous farewell comments from fans. On July 1st, a black-and-white image of a group of people dining together was shared.
Someone wrote: “Wow, I don’t know what to say. Naomi, take care of yourself. This is really sad to hear. I’m speechless.” “We have to cherish every moment of our short lives because it is so brief. She seemed to live that way, especially in recent times,” another person shared. “I can’t comprehend it. You were an angel, a legend, and a reason to live. Rest in peace,” someone else added. “You will be missed!” said a fourth person. “This really shocks me. Love to the family. Sending love from afar to your family. I’m truly sorry to hear that you’ve passed away. You were incredibly talented,” another person wrote. “WHAT A LOSS!
As people learned of the tragic news, Congressman Earl Blumenauer made a statement. He had worked with Naomi to support small restaurants during the pandemic. “What a loss,” he said. “Naomi was a wonderful person, as well as an excellent chef and businesswoman. Her influence extended far beyond Portland; she helped us become leaders and gain recognition for our exceptional cuisine. She will be greatly missed.
