A woman bought the dilapidated house on the street that was about to be demolished: after the renovation, all the neighbors want to live there.

LIFE STORIES

When Hannah bought the old Victorian house, the family was sad because it was falling apart. Hanna Janickiewicz, a mother of three from Merseyside, England, purchased the beautiful Victorian villa in 2013.

But the former glory of the house had faded: it was cracked and dilapidated on the outside, and it was better not to go inside. Although the 41-year-old woman appreciated renovations, she knew the house would require a lot of effort and money, so she put the project on hold for the time being.

In 2019, Hanna decided to seriously consider it. The villa was in such poor condition that it would have been easier to demolish it, but she wanted to renovate it. This involved replacing all the pipes, installing new flooring, changing the windows, and even renovating some of the walls. It took the team over six months to restore the exterior brick wall.

Hanna had to work hard, but she continuously transformed the house and thought about the design. “To be honest, it was the worst house on the street. And I wanted to create a bright, open space that could be used. I loved the original look of the house and tried to preserve its character and key features,” Hanna reveals. Thanks to the renovation, she was able to turn her house into a gem of the town. The value of the villa increased by $216,000, but the mother of three has no intention of selling it.
