In recent weeks, Anna had noticed that her husband, Borys, had become more withdrawn and irritable. She tried not to pay too much attention to it—she wanted to maintain peace and the usual atmosphere at home. She didn’t like arguments and often gave in to avoid unnecessary conflict.
One morning, she went to the store as usual. However, while standing at the checkout, she suddenly realized she had forgotten her wallet. She tried to call her husband—he didn’t answer. She apologized to the cashier and hurried back home.
As she approached the door, she heard Borys’s voice—he was talking on the phone. Although she hadn’t intended to eavesdrop, the words she overheard took her by surprise.

Everything’s almost ready, we just need to transfer the money,” he said. “She suspects nothing. She always avoids arguments…”
These words unsettled Anna. There was something in Borys’s tone that she hadn’t noticed before. When he left the apartment, Anna decided not to go in right away. She needed a moment to process everything.
Later, she called her friend Lia and shared her concerns. On her way back home, she checked the banking app and noticed that their joint account had decreased.
Anna decided to act calmly and wisely. She took time off work to understand what was going on. While going through her husband’s documents and computer, she discovered correspondence with a lawyer. The messages discussed financial matters and the possibility of a divorce.

Anna made copies of all the materials and consulted a lawyer. She also opened a separate bank account and spoke with her parents, who offered their support.
That evening, everything seemed normal. During dinner, Anna placed a neat folder in front of Borys.
“I understand everything,” she said calmly. “I heard the conversation and saw the correspondence. I want to talk about how we move forward from here.”
Borys was taken aback. He tried to explain, but Anna had already made up her mind. She no longer wanted to live in uncertainty and decided it was time to start a new chapter in her life.

Later, the court ruled that all property matters should be resolved fairly. Anna regained her inner balance and gradually began to return to the rhythm of everyday life.
Some time later, she attended Lia’s birthday party—the first such event in many months. There, she met a man who turned out to be attentive and kind.
Anna hadn’t expected to feel lighthearted again, or to have the desire to talk so freely. But she gave herself a chance—and that became the beginning of a new, peaceful, and sincere relationship.
