His devastated girlfriend reports that a drag racer who was participating in a popular reality TV show has died in a horrible car accident. Nathan Schaldach, who portrayed Cali Nate on the Discovery series Street Outlaws, had an accident in southwestern Texas on Saturday night. In a tragic Facebook post, his girlfriend Courtney Paulshock confirmed his death and described him as her “soulmate.” “I am not whole.” On Sunday, she tweeted: “I am completely shocked.” “I feel like my heart is breaking.” According to Paulshock, the accident occurred while Schaldach was racing in Eagle Pass, about two hours west of San Antonio. Despite the help of his friends on the way to the hospital, they could not save his life. Paulshock stated that she did not want to reveal more details about the cause of the accident or what happened before. His girlfriend commented: “It made him so happy to see his mother and sister again.” “Outwardly, he was pursuing his passions.”
“Knowing the kind of love Nathan gave me and showed me every day was a true gift.” Schaldach appeared in the fourth season of the TV show Street Outlaws: Fastest in America, which followed eight drag racing teams competing for a $100,000 prize. His season ended in May of last year. The original Street Outlaws, featuring street racers who risked their lives to compete, served as inspiration for the current show. Drag races pit two cars against each other on a short, straight track to reach the finish line. Because street racing is so deadly, most jurisdictions have banned it despite the overall safety of professional sports. In 2022, during the filming of Street Outlaws, Ryan Fellows, an actor on the show, died in a car accident. Schaldach then passed away. The driver’s car overturned and caught fire in Las Vegas.
The loss has devastated the network, according to a Discovery spokesperson. The US Sun has contacted the Texas police for more information about Nate’s accident. “Never loving anyone again” Online, Schaldach’s friends and admirers have expressed their condolences for his sudden death. Chris Frank, a friend of Schaldach, said he had barely slept after the terrible news. “Those of you who raced against him feared him, and those of you who were friends with him loved him,” Frank said in a Facebook video. “We all know that every outing could be the last and that every race is dangerous.”
“One of the last true racers with a genuine love and real understanding of the sport was Nate.” In one of her saddest farewell emails, Paulshock promised Schaldach that she would love him forever. “Garth told me that I love you a lot, just in case tomorrow never comes,” she wrote to her boyfriend. The driver’s last race was this one. Paulshock added: “Please wake me from this nightmare” under a screenshot of their text exchange. Later that same day, she also posted Lady Gaga’s song “I’ll Never Love Again” from the movie A Star Is Born.
