A benefactor gave a new home to a mother of many children, but soon she received an unexpected letter.

LIFE STORIES

With tears in her eyes, the mother of many children stood on the threshold of her new home.
A dream had come true. A wealthy patron had given her a house she and her children had never even dared to dream of.
The children ran joyfully around the yard, while she, with a trembling hand, pressed the door handle, her heart filled with gratitude and emotion.

The house was clean, spacious, full of light.
But on the kitchen table lay a lonely white envelope.
The woman came closer, tore the edge, and took out a letter.
After reading it – she froze.

“This house has been fully paid for.
But not by the one you think.
Remember: for every gift, there comes a price.

Tania felt a tightness in her chest. The children were joyfully exploring the rooms, but a disturbing premonition appeared in her mind.
After a few minutes, John returned—the man who had helped her with the paperwork. With him came an older man with a dignified presence.

– This is Mr. Thorn. He’s the one who bought the house for you – said John.
– Nice to meet you – Mr. Thorn smiled gently. – Don’t worry, all the documents are in order.

Tania showed them the letter. Mr. Thorn furrowed his brows:
– That’s not from me. I’ve never been here before.

Several days passed. The family was settling in, neighbors were bringing furniture, the children were laughing.
But suddenly, another envelope appeared:
“Don’t sign anything. This house shouldn’t be yours.”

This time, Tania was truly frightened. She turned to John again, and together they called the police, but everything was legally in order.
Then, after a week, there was a knock on the door. On the doorstep stood a tall, well-groomed woman with a tired look in her eyes.

– My name is Karina. This house… it used to be mine – she said with difficulty.
Tania froze.

– I lost it because of debts. I fought to the very end, but the bank took everything. I couldn’t accept that someone else was living here. I was the one leaving the letters… I didn’t mean to scare you. I just couldn’t let go…

Tania felt the resentment fade away.

– You could have just talked to me – she said softly.

Karina looked away:
– You have children. You deserve a new beginning. I’m no longer holding on to this house. Let it be a blessing for someone else.

Tania stepped forward and reached out her hand:
– Then come in. We’ll have some tea. Maybe for you, too, this will be the start of something new.
